This program is open for applications from any year 11 & 12 students (2020) who LOVE art and is curious about forging a Creative career.
WHAT IS INVOLVED: This is a practical art making and mentoring program for young people who LOVE the arts and think they may want some future in a Creative Industry. This will be hands on, relaxed, inspiring and you will get messy! It will run for 10 sessions over the first 6 months of 2020 and include:
– Drawing and mark making
– Printing techniques
– Life Drawing
– Collage, book making and portfolio development
– Exposure experiences (excursions!) and
– A student exhibition at the end at Riverina Community College
Tuition is free and there is a $200 materials fee, we accept Creative Kids Vouchers to assist in covering these costs.

Session 1 – Saturday 14 March 11am – 3pm
Create Hub Introduction/ Practical: expressive mark-making exercises, drawing projects. (5 hours)
Session 2 – Saturday 21 March, 10.30-2.30
10.30am – 2.30pm, Gallery guided tour with Linda Elliott (11am – 12pm)
Exposure experience 1: Viewing current exhibitions and facilities at Wagga Art Gallery. Discussing art collections/ arts practices. Drawing at WWCC Precinct with guidance from Elaine and Claire.
Session 3 – Monday 6 April 6.00pm – 8.00pm
Create Hub Practical: life drawing session with local artist and model and group critique, and discussion. (2 hours)
Session 4 – Tuesday 21 April 10am – 3pm
RCC Practical: expressive printmaking, cyanotype exposures, viewing of RCC gallery space, ahead of final exhibition. (6 hours)
Session 5 – TBC
TBC Exposure experience 2: (2 hours)
Session 6 – Sunday 17th May 10am – 3pm
Create Hub Practical: Book design, construction and collage. Resolving works – adding new media, stitching, re-developing, redrawing and finishing works (6 hours)
Session 7 – Saturday 13 June 11am – 4pm
Create Hub Group Session: Group critique and discussion from previous sessions. Curating works as a group for exhibition, writing media release, taking photographs, designing exhibition invitations. Finalising all works in progress. Visiting Artist to discuss the value of effective marketing and design, to promote exhibitions and arts practices, and exhibitions. (5 hours)
Session 8 – Saturday 27 June 11am – 3pm
Create Hub Professional Practice: Portfolio development and mock interviews with a panel of local practitioners. (4 hours)
Session 9 – Monday 20 July 4.00 – 7.00pm
RCC Professional Practice: exhibition installation (3 hours)
Session 10 – Saturday 25 July 11am – 1pm
RCC Exhibition Launch: Family, friends and community invited to celebrate the program and participants achievements. (2 hours)
